The Course

Part 1

The first segment of the course consists of motorcycle theory. You will be in the classroom learning the basics of motorcycle riding and gear. Moving you way up to discussing different scenarios and the proper way of dealing with them. Classroom theory time is taught using lectures, videos, overheads and different types of diagrams, all in high-quality digital format. There's one written test to be done following the theory session. The entire theory segment of the course is 10 hours in total.

Part 2

The second segment of the course consists of Range Riding. You'll be practising exercises such as basic operation of the motorcycle, slow riding, slaloms, figure eights, emergency braking and other exercises to enhance your balance, clutch control and general handling of the motorcycle. The MSA, previously known as the novice test, is assessed following this range segment of the program. We assess the test, on site using the same bike you've been training on. If a failure occurs, or the instructor feels you're not ready, we'll supply you with an hour of one-on-one private training at no cost to you. We will re-test you at no charge. The entire practical/range segment of the course is approximately 10 hours in total.

Part 3

The third segment of the course consists of Road Rides. At this point, we take you on the road as a group. During the road rides, you'll get the opportunity to use space management, lane positioning, hazard perception, and other valuable skills you've learned so far. There's plenty of chances on the road rides to experience all types of scenarios that you would typically encounter, except now you are able to do it under the proper supervision of a professional, while gaining valuable insight into perfecting your overall skills and abilities on the road. After completing the road ride segment, a final road test will be conducted, off site, using the same bike you've been training on. The final road tests are done on Fridays. The entire road ride segment is approx. 10 hours. ICBC and ProRide charge $50 per attempt on the Final Road Test.

Upon Successful Completion

You are eligible to receive a full unrestricted class 6 Motorcycle License. It allows you to ride a motorcycle day or night, over 60 km, with a passenger and on highways.
